MOTIVATION WITHIN THE COMPUTER CO function SMALL BUSINESS UNIT

INTRODUCTION

The following report details my mirror image of two members of the Computer Co Services Small business organisation Unit (SBU) team with reference to the theories of motivation discussed in book 3. The report concludes with recomm oddmentations aimed at improving motivation of the staff members in question.

1.         INTRODUCTION OF TEAM MEMBERS

Both team members go forth be referred to by their first names only:

Marc         Consultant with three eld service within the company. He has a Masters Degree in statistics, a programming qualification and a Microsoft Engineer Certification.

Greg          subaltern Manager with 13 years service within the company. His precedent job description was Technical Consultant within the UNIX environment.

2.         MARC - motivational INFLUENCES

Marcs primary function to date has been to provide desktop and master of ceremonies services to various clients. I postulate always put to fixher him to be a hard contributeer, requiring very little supervision, still lacking in self-confidence. He has never complained about the work he is doing, although I believe it is not particularly dispute considering his abilities.

Although Marc is single and fairly well paid, he has various expenses that do not leave him with much capital at the end of each month. Until starting this course I had assumed that money was Marcs prime motivating factor, but upon looking deeper I have revised this opinion.

·         Rational Economic Model

I think that 50% of Marcs motivation is money, but this is largely due to his present financial circumstances. To be fair, he works very hard to rectify the situation, and I am of the opinion that his prime source of motivation will soon change as he emerges from his...
